I got a shipping quote of $400 for 10kg (4 cartons, 40×40×25 cm) via air DDU, which comes out to $40/kg, still way higher than the $6.5–$7.5/kg others are paying. Is this normal, or should I push back on the supplier or explore other options?

gosh, $40/kg for standard air DDU for that size and weight is high. push back on the supplier and get your own independent quotes

That rate does seem unusually high, I'd be concerned you're getting overcharged, so definitely push back on the supplier and get quotes from other freight forwarders to compare

Thats a bit too high for me... $40/kg for air DDU is well above the typical $6.5-$7.5/kg range, especially for a 10kg shipment. You should also get quotes from third-party freight agents to compare, sometimes suppliers mark up shipping more than they should.

$40/kg for air DDU is insane unless it's some urgent niche lane either your supplier's marking it up hard, or they've locked you into a lazy logistics partner
